Before this site became a premier television and film production hub, it operated as the largest bread bakery in the world. The massive neon sign perched on the roof today serves as a reminder of the Silvercup Bakers company, which produced millions of loaves of bread here daily for the New York metropolitan area until the facility closed its ovens in the mid-seventies.
