Mill Ends Park

A small circle of weeds, barely two feet across, sits in the middle of a busy pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Naito Parkway and Taylor Street. This is Mill Ends Park, officially recognized as the smallest park in the world. In nineteen forty-eight, a columnist named Dick Fagan discovered a hole in the street where a light pole was meant to go. Fagan planted flowers in the empty dirt and claimed the space as a colony for leprechauns.
