The Simon Benson House sits near the edge of the Portland State University campus, marked by its distinctive Queen Anne style and the wraparound porch featuring turned wooden spindles. Simon Benson, a wealthy timber baron, moved this house piece by piece from its original location on Southwest Park Avenue in nineteen hundred. He lived here while he funded the construction of the Benson Hotel and donated the city’s iconic bronze drinking fountains. The structure now serves as the university’s alumni center.
