Parliament of Victoria

The Parliament of Victoria features a grand colonnade of massive Corinthian columns that stretches across the entire front facade, overlooking Spring Street. Built during the nineteenth-century gold rush, this building served as the meeting place for the federal Parliament of Australia from nineteen oh one until nineteen twenty-seven. During those decades, senators and representatives drafted the nation’s laws within these stone walls while the state government moved into the nearby Exhibition Building to make room for the new national assembly.
