This narrow passage earned its reputation in the late nineties when city officials embraced an urban art program, intentionally designating the alley as a legal space for graffiti. While the imagery changes weekly, the permanent texture of the lane comes from the thick, crusty buildup of paint that clings to the bricks, sometimes inches deep in dried, colorful resin.
