Place de la République de Panama is a small, triangular traffic island where three streets converge. At its center stands a bronze bust of Simón Bolívar, the Venezuelan military leader who led the independence movements across much of South America. The city of Caracas donated this statue to Paris in nineteen thirty-one. It sits tucked away from the main boulevards, surrounded by benches and low hedges, marking a quiet intersection of diplomatic history and daily life in the fifteenth arrondissement.
