Ordener attack

other

The Ordener attack site is marked by a plaque on the corner of Rue Ordener and Rue du Poteau in the eighteenth arrondissement. In August nineteen forty-four, as Paris neared liberation, a group of French Resistance fighters waited here for a German truck carrying supplies. They opened fire on the vehicle, hoping to capture weapons and ammunition for the final push against the occupation. A fierce gunfight erupted on the pavement, leaving two resistance members dead and others wounded before the truck sped away.
