Square Léon Frapiè (Ferns)

The Square Léon Frapié occupies a steep hillside on the edge of the twentieth arrondissement, identifiable by the dense grove of trees that hides the street traffic below. Named after the novelist who captured the lives of the working poor in this neighborhood, the park serves as a green buffer on a site once scarred by industrial excavations. Children play on a terrace where quarry workers once hauled gypsum to build the city, leaving behind a jagged landscape reclaimed for public rest.
