Gustave Eiffel opened this facility in nineteen twelve after his earlier, smaller wind tunnel at the base of the Eiffel Tower became the subject of neighbor complaints regarding the noise. By moving his research to this quiet corner of Auteuil, he established a permanent home for scientific testing that fundamentally shaped the future of aeronautics and engineering.
