Ruta Bourne - Passage Plantin

Passage Plantin stands as a rare survivor of the rapid modernization that erased much of old Belleville. While many of the city's famous passages were designed as grand, glass-roofed shopping arcades for the wealthy, this narrow walkway serves as a quiet residential connector between the Rue des Couronnes and the Rue du Transvaal. It remains one of the few places in the neighborhood that has resisted the intense densification of the surrounding area, maintaining a sense of the village atmosphere that defined this part of Paris before it was fully absorbed into the city in the nineteenth century.
