Château de la Muette

The Château de la Muette sits on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne, standing as the current headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. While the elegant neoclassical building you see today was completed in nineteen twenty-two, it occupies a site that has served as a royal retreat since the sixteenth century. The name itself reflects its original purpose, likely deriving from terms related to hunting, such as the packs of deerhounds kept there or the antlers shed by stags in the nearby royal forests.
