Musée des Moulages

The Musee des Moulages, located within the historic Hôpital Saint-Louis, houses the most significant collection of dermatological wax models in the world. Before the age of high-quality color photography, medical students studied skin diseases by examining these hyper-realistic, three-dimensional wax replicas. The collection contains nearly five thousand individual pieces, ranging from common skin conditions to rare pathologies, all preserved in their original nineteenth-century wooden display cases.
