A concrete slab spray-painted with vibrant, swirling graffiti stands tucked away near the Place de la Concorde. This segment of the Berlin Wall arrived in Paris as a gift to the city in nineteen eighty-nine, mere months after the border crossings opened. It was once part of the fortification that divided a city and a continent for twenty-eight years. Today, it remains as a raw piece of that cold war barrier, removed from its original site to mark the collapse of a border.
