Mirza Muzaffar Hussain’s Tomb

The tomb of Mirza Muzaffar Hussain stands as a tall, octagonal stone structure inside the zoo grounds. Built in the early seventeenth century, it holds the remains of a great-grandson of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. Its rough, weathered sandstone walls contrast with the lush greenery surrounding the animal enclosures. Hussain served as a governor during the reign of Jahangir, but he is remembered today for the heavy stone dome that sits atop his final resting place, defying centuries of Delhi heat.
