Mazar-e-Mirza Asad Ullah Khan Ghalib Tomb

religious

The tomb of Mirza Ghalib features a delicate marble screen carved with intricate floral patterns that filter the light inside. This site serves as the final resting place for the legendary nineteenth century Urdu and Persian poet. Ghalib lived much of his life in poverty and turmoil, often struggling to secure patronage as the Mughal Empire dissolved around him. He died in eighteen sixty-nine, and this enclosure was eventually built to house his remains among the graves of other notable figures.
