The portico of Presidency University displays a series of tall, white Corinthian columns, a design that marks the building as one of the oldest centers of Western-style education in Asia. Established in eighteen seventeen as Hindu College, it began when local leaders and David Hare gathered to create a space for modern learning. This institution later fostered an environment where figures like Subhash Chandra Bose and Amartya Sen debated ideas that shaped the country. The original walls hold the echoes of these early intellectual disputes.
