UCCJ Sapporo Church

religious

The United Church of Christ in Japan Sapporo Church features a tall, sharp-angled steeple that rises above the surrounding buildings in a distinct deep red brick. Built in nineteen oh four, this structure replaced an earlier wooden chapel that fell victim to a fire. The architect, Yosaku Kurosawa, crafted the building to blend Western Gothic design with locally available materials. Inside, the original pews and high vaulted ceiling remain, preserving the quiet atmosphere established by its first congregation over a century ago.
