Haseyama Kannonin features a modest, dark wooden gate that opens into a quiet courtyard tucked away from the Kanazawa streets. This site belongs to the Shingon sect of Buddhism. In the late sixteenth century, the local feudal lord, Toshiie Maeda, moved this temple to this spot to consolidate the religious buildings near his castle. For generations, the families of high-ranking samurai officials maintained the grounds and funded the upkeep of the main hall, leaving behind a history of quiet, private devotion.
