The Izumi Kyoka Kinenkan Museum sits behind a traditional lattice gate, housed in a restored wooden townhouse that marks the writer's birthplace. Kyoka grew up here absorbing the ghost stories and folklore that defined his later surrealist fiction. When the building burned down during the Meiji era, the city reconstructed this version to preserve his connection to the district. Inside, the floorboards still creak under the weight of his manuscripts and the first editions of his haunting, supernatural tales.
