大野庄用水碑

The Onosho Yosui monument stands as a simple stone slab amidst the urban rush of Kanazawa. This channel was engineered in the late sixteenth century to bring fresh water from the Saigawa River into the city. It allowed the Maeda clan to establish a castle town while supporting the local population and moats. While most city infrastructure vanishes into pipes, this waterway still flows visibly through the streets, carrying cold, clear mountain water that once kept the samurai districts fed and defended.
