龍枝堂

Ryushido stands out for the distinct, weathered wood of its traditional townhouse facade, preserved amidst the modern concrete of Nakagyo. This building functions as a center for the practice of tea ceremony and classical calligraphy. During the late nineteenth century, the owner insisted on incorporating rare, dark cedar beams reclaimed from older temple structures into the entryway. These timbers still bear the faint, irregular chisel marks from artisans who worked on them centuries ago, long before this house was built.
