Plaza Guadalajara

The Plaza Guadalajara is defined by the four-armed fountain at its center, shaped like a cross and adorned with bronze lions. This space sits directly between the Guadalajara Cathedral and the city hall. It was carved out in the nineteen fifties to create a clear view of the cathedral’s towers. Before that, the area held a dense cluster of shops and houses. A merchant named Pedro often stood here in the mid-seventies, selling newspapers to commuters until the plaza was redesigned to calm traffic.
