The State of Jalisco Government Building features a distinct facade of pink quarry stone with a central balcony projecting over the main entrance. This structure served as the headquarters for the state government during a period of intense political upheaval. In eighteen ten, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla entered these halls and issued the decree that abolished slavery throughout Mexico. While the building remains a seat of power, the memory of that proclamation still anchors its reputation as the birthplace of social reform.
