Noordeinde Palace

The facade of Noordeinde Palace stretches along the street as a long, symmetrical row of cream-colored stone, punctuated by a central balcony that faces the public square. It began as a medieval farmhouse in the sixteen hundreds before being gifted to the widow of William of Orange. King Willem-Alexander uses this building as his primary workplace today. In nineteen forty-eight, a massive fire destroyed much of the interior, leaving only the exterior walls standing while the original seventeenth-century structure disappeared inside.
