Reformierte Schlosskirche

religious

The Reformierte Schlosskirche features a tall, slender steeple that rises directly from the corner of a weathered stone building, set against the backdrop of the rugged Bernese Oberland. This church once served the Augustinian monks who lived in the adjacent monastery, which now houses government offices. In the seventeen hundreds, a catastrophic fire swept through the town and destroyed much of the medieval structure. When the townsfolk rebuilt the walls, they incorporated the ancient, surviving stonework into the new sanctuary.
