Kuzguncuk Bostanı

The Kuzguncuk Bostanı sits behind a low stone wall, a rare patch of open green space where rows of vegetables grow against a backdrop of modern apartment blocks. For centuries, this plot functioned as a waqf, or charitable endowment, providing produce for local residents. In the nineteen eighties, developers planned to build a luxury school on the site, but the community physically blocked the construction machinery. The garden survived as a working neighborhood farm, still growing tomatoes and peppers for the people nearby.
