IMT Gallery

IMT Gallery, which stands for Image Music Text, takes its name from a seminal book of essays by the French philosopher Roland Barthes. Founded in two thousand five by Lindsay Friend and Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson, the gallery established itself as an independent, non-profit space dedicated to experimental art that avoids corporate or governmental agendas. It operates as a hybrid institution, functioning both as a public exhibition venue and a representative for artists, with a long-standing emphasis on installation, sound, and multimedia works. The space is home to two Sphynx cats, who reside in the rear rooms, and visitors are typically asked to ensure they remain separated from the main exhibition area to protect the displays.
