While its architecture is characteristic of the period, the building gained a vastly different reputation during the nineteen-sixties when Ringo Starr acquired the lease for the basement and ground floor. What might have remained a quiet, high-society address became one of the most significant hubs for rock and roll history in London. As a landlord, Ringo Starr frequently allowed fellow musicians and artists to use the space, transforming a private residence into a revolving door for music royalty.
