Hackney City Farm

Hackney City Farm occupies land with a long industrial history that sits beneath the surface of its current pastoral appearance. Before it became a place to meet goats and sheep, this site operated as a brewery starting in the late nineteenth century. You can still find a capped well in the front garden that once provided the essential water for the brewing process. By the mid twentieth century, the space had transitioned into a road haulage yard, serving as a hub for the local Jeakins family business before local residents reclaimed the derelict lot in 1984 to begin the farm.
