Pullens Gardens & Park

Pullens Gardens stands on ground that was once occupied by tenement housing. When the local council moved to demolish the surrounding Victorian estate in the late twentieth century, residents and squatters launched a campaign to save their homes. This resistance movement eventually forced the council to abandon its plans for total destruction. The community repurposed the site of a building that had already been torn down into this green space. It stands today as a living marker of the successful struggle to preserve the neighborhood.
