Moray Place

Moray Place forms a perfect decagon of grand sandstone townhouses, centered on a private wooded garden. Designed by architect James Gillespie Graham in the eighteen twenties, it serves as the centerpiece of the Moray Feu, an exclusive residential development built on land owned by the Earl of Moray. Sir Walter Scott lived here at number twenty-four for a short time. He famously complained about the incessant noise from the constant construction work that echoed through the street while he tried to write.
