The Georgian House (National Trust for Scotland)

The Georgian House stands as a tall, narrow townhome of grey sandstone on the corner of Charlotte Square. John Lamont of Lamont commissioned the building in seventeen ninety-six, shortly after the architect Robert Adam designed the square itself. Inside, the house retains the pristine aesthetic of the late eighteenth century, down to the original marble fireplaces and intricate plasterwork. When the National Trust for Scotland took ownership, they restored the rooms to look exactly as they did when the Lamont family lived here.
