The Fur Rendezvous headquarters sits behind a bright red door on Fourth Avenue, marked by a vintage sign featuring a cartoon trapper. This office organizes the ten-day winter festival that took over Anchorage every February starting in nineteen thirty-five. Back then, miners and trappers came to town to sell their furs and spend their earnings. They organized games, held parades, and staged mock kidnappings to shake off the cabin fever of a long Alaskan winter.
