Resolution Park

Resolution Park features a bronze bust of Captain James Cook staring out over the Cook Inlet. The park marks the approximate spot where the explorer supposedly landed during his search for the Northwest Passage in seventeen seventy-eight. While local historians argue about exactly where he stepped ashore, the city dedicated this space in nineteen seventy-eight to commemorate his visit. The statue itself survived the nineteen sixty-four earthquake, which destroyed the previous neighborhood structures, leaving this quiet overlook as a strange, permanent anchor.
