The Dolby Theatre is identifiable by the tall, white columns lining its facade and the names of Academy Award winning films etched into the glass entryway. It serves as the permanent home of the Oscars. When the architect David Rockwell designed the space in two thousand one, he intended for the interior to mimic an elegant European opera house. During the very first ceremony held here, the stage floor collapsed during a rehearsal, forcing the entire production team to rebuild the deck overnight.
