Candlestick Park

The concrete bowl of Candlestick Park sits empty on the edge of the bay, defined by its jagged, wind-whipped silhouette. Opened in nineteen sixty, the stadium was carved directly into the bedrock to withstand the intense gales that famously swirled through the stands. It served as the home for the San Francisco Giants and the Forty Niners for decades. Before its demolition, the final games were defined by fans ripping out seats and scouring the field to carry away a piece of the history.
