Ralph D. House Community Park

Ralph D. House Community Park sits on a steep slope defined by a jagged, red-brick retaining wall that separates the basketball court from the upper terrace. It exists because of a decades-long struggle by Bayview residents to secure public space in a neighborhood long ignored by city planners. Ralph House, a local barber and community activist, led the push to transform this vacant, debris-filled lot into a neighborhood hub. The park opened in nineteen eighty-four, bearing his name to honor that persistence.
