The Florence Fang Community Farm occupies a two-acre lot that sits directly beneath the noisy path of the Third Street light rail. Rows of raised garden beds stretch across what used to be a barren, trash-strewn dirt slope. Florence Fang bought this land in two thousand fourteen to prevent it from becoming a luxury housing development. Neighbors cleared tons of concrete and debris to build a space where elderly residents grow bok choy and bitter melon in the middle of the city.
