The FUF Garden sits behind a chain link fence, marked by rows of wooden raised beds and fruit trees that contrast with the industrial feel of the surrounding industrial landscape. It serves as the home base for Friends of the Urban Forest, a group that has planted over sixty thousand trees across San Francisco since nineteen eighty-one. Volunteers gather here to nurture saplings in pots before they move to city sidewalks. The garden keeps the neighborhood green even where concrete dominates every other square inch.
