Anderson & Cristofani

The building at one four zero five Fairfax Avenue wears a faded, hand-painted sign that reads Anderson and Cristofani. It is a long, low structure with wide bay doors, built to accommodate the steady flow of lumber and sawdust that defined the Hunters Point waterfront for decades. While the shipyard nearby dominated the neighborhood, this mill provided the woodwork, frames, and custom cabinetry for the city’s Victorian homes. It remained a family-run operation through four generations of the same woodworking lineage.
