It serves as an off-the-grid facility for environmental education, operating completely on solar power and filtered rainwater. In the late nineties, this entire park was a landfill site slated for industrial redevelopment. Local residents fought for years to secure this ground for public wetlands, eventually transforming the industrial wasteland into a habitat for hundreds of bird species.
