The Powell Street Railroad Depot in Golden Gate Park is a small, brown wooden station with a wide, overhanging roof that sits near the intersection of the park roads. Built in eighteen ninety-three, it served as the terminus for the Ferries and Cliff House Railway. Passengers once stepped off the steam trains here to spend their Sundays at the beach or the nearby Chutes amusement park. It remains one of the last original transit buildings left standing within the park grounds today.
