Wood Line

monument

The Wood Line consists of two hundred and forty eucalyptus logs laid end-to-end, snaking across the forest floor in a zigzag pattern. Andy Goldsworthy created the installation in two thousand and eight, using timber harvested during park maintenance. He chose the site for a deep, natural ravine that emphasizes the way the sculpture bisects the landscape. As the logs slowly decay and sink into the earth, the work disappears back into the forest, exactly as the artist intended when he set them down.
