Duvall Foundry

The Duvall Foundry building features a long, low profile with a distinct red brick facade and large, industrial-style arched windows that mark it as a relic of Georgetown’s waterfront industry. Before this was a collection of high-end offices, William Duvall operated an iron works here that fueled the mid-nineteenth century city. When a catastrophic fire tore through the foundry in eighteen fifty-seven, workers reportedly saved the heavy machinery by throwing it into the canal, pulling it out once the flames died down.
