Patterson Mansion

The Patterson Mansion features a white limestone facade topped by a distinct, oversized cornice that blocks the view of the roof. Robert Patterson, a wealthy newspaper publisher, commissioned this home in nineteen oh two to host the city's elite. During the first half of the twentieth century, the building served as a temporary White House for President Calvin Coolidge while the real one underwent renovations. Inside, the grand ballroom saw countless diplomatic dinners before the mansion became the headquarters for the Washington Club.
