The Cabildo Museum

The Cabildo is a three-story Spanish colonial building topped with a distinct flat roof and a series of arched openings along its front facade. It served as the seat of government for New Orleans during the Spanish colonial period. In eighteen oh three, the building hosted the formal transfer of the Louisiana Territory from France to the United States. That event doubled the size of the young nation overnight, turning a regional administrative office into the site of a massive geopolitical shift.
