The Blue Nile wears a distinctive, weathered, two-story facade with a wide, arched doorway that opens directly onto Frenchmen Street. This building began as the Dream Palace in the nineteen eighties, serving as one of the first music clubs to challenge the hold Bourbon Street had on the local scene. When the original owners struggled to keep the doors open, a local family took over the space. They built a reputation for booking brass bands that keep the room moving until dawn.
