Old South Meeting House

The Old South Meeting House features a tall, slender steeple that rises above the surrounding glass office towers of the Financial District. Puritans built this brick structure in seventeen twenty-nine for their Sunday services. During the winter of seventeen seventy-three, Samuel Adams stood inside to address a crowd of five thousand people who were angry about the tax on tea. When the meeting ended, those citizens marched directly to the harbor to dump crates of tea into the cold water.
