The El Cortez parking garage sits across from the hotel, defined by a distinct, oversized neon sign that towers over the sidewalk. Architect Wayne McAllister designed the original hotel structure in nineteen forty-one, but this garage arrived later to accommodate the growing number of visitors driving into downtown. Bugsy Siegel once held a piece of the hotel, and the garage stands on land that saw the chaotic, rapid expansion of the gambling district. It holds the cars of people heading inside today.
