The Mob Museum

The Mob Museum occupies the former federal courthouse, a neoclassical limestone building with a row of tall columns facing the street. Inside this courtroom in nineteen fifty, Senator Estes Kefauver led a televised hearing that brought the realities of organized crime into living rooms across America. When the city tried to demolish the structure years later, preservationists saved it. Now, the courtroom serves as an exhibit space where the original wooden judge’s bench remains, exactly where witnesses once testified against underworld bosses.
